During summer-time along the Texas Coast a Sunrise Fly Fishing Trip beats the heat and for tailing redfish it is absolutely their favorite time of day. The Summer Season which spans the months of April, May, June, July, August and September. Typically we meet well before false dawn and are setup on the flat, in position. With 15 extra minutes of absolute silence from us immediately after our arrival on the flat, we let the fish settle back into their digs while we wait for the first rays of sunlight to illuminate the surface of the water.. The minute there is enough light, we can see tailing redfish. We wade (or pole) into position super quite, on foot in boot, without the boat it is ideal. We take it painfully slow to stalk our targets and we do it again and again and again. It is such an intimate experience to see them in person before the crowds of people have awoken from their slumber, watching those hungry redfish doing their thing. Their noses in the fresh sea grass, foraging for chocolate covered crab stuffed truffles and you will know when they have found one! Their tails wave in the air and you get to send a fly into their midst in hopes of something good! A wishing well we cast into with our hook and fly, dressed with the feathers of angels and redfish in our hands.
